The Course

5km Run

Starting in the open field behind the information centre the run will head up towards the Liverpool-Leeds Canal passing Pengy’s Pond and Kidney’s Pond in picturesque surroundings. Taking a left turn before the canal side runners will reach Ramsdales Ruck, looping around before heading back along the route past Teal Scrape towards the start/finish area. At this point they will reach the transition area and collect their bike to start the second section of the event.

25km Cycle

Once the first run is complete participants will take to their bikes to complete a 25km route around the surrounding area, essentially looping round Pennington Flash. All roads will be open to vehicles so cyclists must be aware of this and continue to respect the rules of the road. The route will see participants travel through Leigh, Atherton, Westhoughton, Hindley Green, and Westleigh before re-entering Pennington Flash, storing their bikes, and making their way back out on to the 5km run route for a second time.

5km Run

The 5km route will again re-join the same 5km route using the barrier line from the cycling transition area to the route. Participants will then finish through the gantry after completing their second lap of Pennington Flash.
