UK Fire Fighters 2UP Duathlon
The EPIC Fire Fighters '2UP' Duathlon is a unique event which takes place on 19th March 2017 in conjunction with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue.

Event Description:
The Course:
Fire Fighters '2UP' Duathlon will consist of a run section, followed by a bike section and then, lastly, another run section.
What makes this event a little more interesting is its unique format which requires teams of 2 to compete together throughout the event. You and your partner must run together and cycle together and the rules stipulate that you must remain within 20m of each other at all times. During the cycle section, drafting between you and your partner is allowed however you cannot draft other teams.
The Run
Both run sections are identical. They are 1 x 5.6k loop around Rivington Country Park. The run is undulating and it takes place entirely on trails. We recommend trail or fell shoes (but isn’t compulsory.
The Bike
The bike route is 37.2k in length and, again, it is one single loop that climbs both Sheephouse Lane and Anglezarke. A large portion of the route is on quite rural lanes.
For this section of the event you are allowed to ‘draft’ with your partner (riding in their slipstream to share the workload). Please note, the rules do NOT allow you to draft from other teams on the course. If you are spotted doing this, this will result in disqualification. You must also ride in single file and not 2 abreast on the road. The road is not closed to traffic and you must follow the Highway Code at all times, riding responsibly.
There will be adequate signs to direct you on the course as well as marshals at key points to assist. The marshals cannot stop traffic and will not tell you if it is safe to go. It is your responsibility to check for traffic and stay safe.
